Climbing gear gone to fund my new home

Well, there the end of an era. I'm desperately short of cash, and need to get this boat in a liveable condition so, to ebay I went with my collection of climbing gear. Ropes, helmet, cams, nuts, krabs, harness... everything.

I'll miss it though. I've been through a lot with that kit and it's saved my life on a few occasions too. Oh well, at least I'll be able to stick a roof on my home to be, so I'm happy about it in a way.

I need to get some pics and do a write up of that actually. Pirimela, a Thompson T24 yacht, which had an accident with a BIG mast and lost its cabin roof. Subsequent damp conditions have left the whole thing in a pretty poor, rotten, state so she's getting rebuilt from the mast bulkhead back. The plan being to eventually live on her... we'll see.

I've posted a couple of pics of her. Click the related link to see them.

I've started the write up of our Ben Nevis trip. It's currently only two pages and pictureless, but I'll sort that out tonight. It's going to end up quite a long peice, but hopefully at least one person will enjoy it :)

I've been working on content offline for a while under the presumption that I'd never get any visitors for at least a few months until the search engines pick me up. I was quite gobsmacked to see comments left on the blog. Wow! I'll make sure if gets updated regularly now I know people are actually interested in this kind of thing - I was begginning to think it was maybe just me that was into canvass masochism.

Wild Camping guide

I've started a guide to wild camping, which I'll be working over the next few days. It's pretty sparse at the moment, but will eventually go into various aspects of it including destinations around Lancashire and the lake district.

I'm trying to keep the inital guide quite open and not limited to one particular type of wild camping, however I'll be going into detail with other guides that more specifically target wild camping in woodland as well as hills and mountains. I'm enjoying writing about it so expect frequent updates :)

Click the related link below to get to the article.

Cheerso!

Shiny new blog

At last, the blog is up and running.

Bear with me here because the software is new and I'm still hacking into the site proper. :D

What totally bastard winds we've had today. On my lunch break I went to the local shopping area, which happens to be next to Preston docks. The wind was such that the abnormal waves create on the lee shore of the lake were being picked up and thrown accross the road, a good 10/15m away from the docks proper. Was a strange site indeed.

Thought while I'm there I'd better check my boat is ok in the wind. It's on hard standing at the moment to pretty high up (I'll be writing an article about this latest yacht soon enough).

Anyway, that's my first blog, I'm now offically a netizen I suppose, although I've been on here since '96. heh.
